Sandra è una signora borghese che se ne va di casa quando scopre che il marito (con il quale è sposata da 40 anni) ha una relazione con la sua migliore amica. Sandra si rifugia da sua sorella Bif, una sessantenne "alternativa" che vive da sola in un quartiere popolare. Grazie a lei, Sandra scoprirà una curiosa scuola di ballo e soprattutto conoscerà Charlie, un eccentrico restauratore di mobili che vive su una barca.
